Ornament & Card Making Workshop Is This Thursday
It’s a wrap! Holiday beginnings at Explore Ecology – Time to get COZY and make things!
Don’t you wish it would snow in Santa Barbara? Or even get a little cold? Well – you can pretend this Thursday, December 4th, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, by joining us at Art From Scrap for an Ornament and Card Making Workshop. We’ll be using everyday cold-weather inspired actions such as wrapping things in yarn and fabric, coating and covering… scrunching and knotting, tying and fastening like you would be doing to yourself if you were on a snowy street somewhere else.
In this workshop, you might make wooly snowballs, knotted garlands, beautiful wrapped sticks that become fantastical miniature trees, and tiny houses for tiny creatures in or around your tree. You can create cork people and little rockets, or winter flowers and stars. For a start.
You may need invitations for friends, cards and tags for presents – so we have some Holiday Card ideas for you, too. One card design that can be many things: posted to overseas friends, a gift tag on a present and then hung on the tree for decoration, or for the children to find and play a game with. Each card is also a tiny pocket in which to hide or tuck a note, small treasure, or set of clues that point your children on a treasure hunt around the house. Your imagination is the limit, our materials are there for your creative first few steps.
No reservations are required. Don’t miss this Art From Scrap Workshop on Thursday, December 4th, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. This workshop is part of our Homespun Holiday First Thursday Celebration, which includes an Art Opening & Jewelry Show, music by DJ Ted Coe of KCSB FM and wine by Santa Barbara Winery.
