Children’s Birthday Parties
The EE Makerspace located above the Art From Scrap Creative Reuse Store is the perfect party place for kids. All birthday parties include an Art Workshop led by one of our staff members and the exclusive use of materials in the EE Makerspace.
To reserve a date for your party, please complete our party planning form at least one month in advance of your desired party date. We will do our best to accommodate your request. Our EE Makerspace Coordinator will contact you within two business days
HOW IT WORKS
- Parties are available for ages Kindergarten up to age 12.
- A staff member will lead an Art Workshop during your party.
- Please pick only one themed project for your party.
- If you would like a project that isn’t on our list, we will do our best to accommodate you. The cost for a custom project is $50.
- Parties can be scheduled for Friday and Saturdays.
- The 90 min party includes guided staff craft instruction, craft workshop time, and birthday celebration time (presents and snack time)
- Half of your payment is due upon booking reservation and the full payment is due five days before your party.
- Party hosts may arrive 20 min early in the EE Makerspace to set up if desired.
- No balloons or plastic party decorations please.
- We request that any party foods be individual or “hand held” to avoid unnecessary plates, forks and napkins.
- Parents are not included in guest count and are invited to attend with their child, however there is a 10 adult max due to space limitations.
- $300 for a 90 minute party for up to 15 guests. Additional guests (kids) are $20.00 each.

Private Workshops or Parties for Teenagers or Adults
The EE Makerspace is a perfect gathering place for birthdays, bridal showers, team building events, graduations, and celebrations. All parties include exclusive use of the workshop, a pre-selected project, and creative guidance from a staff member or guest artist.
HOW IT WORKS
- Please submit a request for a private workshop to our EE Makerspace Coordinator at least one month prior to your desired date.
- Private events can be scheduled Tuesday – Friday during the day (starting at 11:0am) or evening and during the late afternoon on Saturday’s (starting at 2:30pm).
- Private workshops events range from 90 min to 2 hours in length. Event host may arrive up to 20 min early to set up.
- The EE Makerspace Coordinator will work with you to plan a project based on our available options. Our most popular workshops include: indigo dye, printmaking, leather crafts, textile arts, sewing, collage, jewelry making, wall hangings, and wreaths.
- Private party costs start at $375 for up to 15 people. Additional guests are $20 per person up to 25 people maximum (not all art workshop choices can accommodate larger groups, please inquire. Some art projects, such at indigo dye are available for an extra cost.)
- Half of your deposit is due upon scheduling to hold the calendar and your full payment is due five days before your party.
- Snacks, drinks and alcohol are allowed in the EE Makerspace and we will provide reusable glassware and small plates if desired.
Josh was born and raised in Santa Barbara, where his passion and curiosity for the environment began and has continued to grow. During his undergraduate studies, Josh pursued this interest at the University of California at Santa Cruz, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies.
Melissa Dodos developed her passion for creative reuse as a mother of four and elementary educator over the past 25 years. She loves to inspire creativity by connecting people with resources and ideas.
Veronica grew up in San Diego and spent four years in San Luis Obispo studying Animal Science at Cal Poly. As an undergrad she learned lots about livestock, agriculture, and wildlife.
Stephanie began her journey as an educator over twenty years ago working as a preschool teacher in Washington state for a cooperative preschool program affiliated with Whatcom Community College. She loved observing the wonder and curiosity of the children and bringing them out into nature to explore the natural world. She continued her love for learning and got her teaching license and then her Montessori certification and worked as an elementary teacher in Tribal, Public, and Montessori schools. She collaborated to create a school garden and her students loved it so much that it became a special place where they could garden, read, explore, play, and it provided a safe sanctuary for students to calm down and reset when they were having difficult moments.
Morgan’s mermaid soul is always seeking adventure—swimming a relay across the Santa Barbara Channel and taking the first photo of a newborn orca off Anacapa Island being standout experiences close to home.
