Movie Night at the Watershed Resource Center

September 29, 2023
5:30 pm
- 8:30 pm

Watch Beaver Believers and The Octopus’ Garden documentaries at the beautiful Watershed Resource Center at Arroyo Burro Beach.

The Beaver Believers is an award-winning feature documentary sharing the urgent yet whimsical story of an unlikely cadre of activists – five scientists and a sassy, spicy hairdresser – who share a common vision. They’re all working to restore the North American Beaver, that most industrious, ingenious, bucktoothed engineer, to the watersheds of the American West.

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation’s film, Discover Wonder: The Octopus Garden, was honored with the Shorts Award as the best short film at the 18th Annual International Ocean Film Festival. The 9-minute film follows a team of scientists to the depths of NOAA’s Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary to view one of the rarest and deepest octopus brooding colonies on the planet, which was discovered by researchers on the Ocean Exploration Trust’s E/V Nautilus.

Thanks to the County of Santa Barbara Project Clean Water for organizing this event!

This screening is part of Creek Week-  an annual celebration of our creeks, watersheds, and the ocean, with many organizations hosting events to help build awareness and stewardship of the natural treasures of Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Carpinteria.
