Special Directions: Be aware that unleashed dogs may be present during the cleanup. Beach can accommodate large groups. High tide may adjust areas of cleanup. Cleanups can include the beach, the parking lot, or the open spaces surrounding Arroyo Burro.

Butterfly Beach:

Parking: There is free street parking and paid parking in the Chase Palm Park parking lots. Parking will be free in any City of Santa Barbara parking lot from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm when displaying a Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer parking lot voucher. This parking pass may be obtained from one of the Site Captains.

Special Directions: The beach can accommodate large groups.

Accessibility: Bathrooms. Accessible parking spots. The approach to the beach is not long or difficult. There are public restrooms nearby.

East Beach (Volleyball Courts):

Hammond’s: 

Meeting Place: Very end of Eucalyptus Lane

Parking: Street parking. No permits or payments needed. Some years All Saints Church (83 Eucalyptus Lane) opens their lot for cleanup volunteers. Use the East Lot by the school, located on the left side of Eucalyptus Lane past the church. Otherwise, walking or biking to the site is encouraged. Limited street parking is available.

Leadbetter Beach:

Meeting Place: The picnic area west of the Shoreline Café at 801 Shoreline Dr, Santa Barbara, CA 93109

Miramar Beach:

Oak Park:

Meeting Place: From the parking lot at 638 West Junipero St, walk past the stage and across the bridge to meet at the main picnic area. We will have a sign.

Parking: The main parking lot is 638 West Junipero St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105. No permits/payment are needed. Some street parking is also available.

Sandspit Beach, Harbor, and Parking Lot:

Meeting Place: 117b Harbor Way SB CA 93109 on the West Side of Santa Barbara Yacht Club Parking Lot towards boat yard. Please park in the City of Santa Barbara Parking  Lot. Look for Sign-In tents and tables.

Shoreline Park:

Lompoc

Jalama Beach:

Parking: A parking pass for participants who are specifically attending the Coastal Cleanup Day event will be available; they need to mention this at the time of arrival. For participants who plan to stay at Jalama after the cleanup event ends at 12:00, a day-use fee will be required.

Surf Beach:

Special Directions: Service is limited. If a rocket launch is scheduled that day, parking and access to the site may be impacted; participants should meet at Ocean Park instead. (6851 Ocean Park Rd). May experience high winds; participants should wear layers.

Carpinteria/Summerland

Carpinteria Salt Marsh Preserve:

Meeting Place: Meet us on Ash Ave. in Carpinteria. Please map directions to the Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park (5775 Carpinteria Ave). Take the Linden Ave. exit off the 101 (86B) and drive down to Sandyland Rd. Turn right, then turn right on Ash Ave. to find parking along the street. We’ll have signs out to direct you to our meeting area!

Parking: Find parking along Ash Ave. in Carpinteria, near the entrance to the Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park trail.

Accessibility: Trail difficulty is easy, fairly level, with a pedestrian bridge. There are bathrooms. Grabbers and/or sturdy gloves are recommended!

Carpinteria State Beach and City Beach:

Meeting Place: End of Linden Avenue at Carpinteria State Beach. We will be set up next to the Harbor Seal Statue with a tent you can’t miss!

Site Captains: Heather Hudson (Heal the Ocean) and Tatianna Suriel (City of Carpinteria)

Organization: Heal the Ocean and the City of Carpinteria.

Parking: Free 90-minute street parking is available along Linden Avenue and nearby residential streets. Volunteers may also park in the Carpinteria Station Parking Lot located at 475 Linden Ave or at the Carpinteria State Beach lot, but a Day Use Pass is required. If you plan to stay longer than 90 minutes, please consider a day use lot.

Jelly Bowl Beach:  

Meeting Place: At the end of Concha Loma Drive.

Organization: Carpinteria Beautiful

Parking: Street parking is very limited near the end of Concha Loma Drive. Volunteers should look for legal street parking along Concha Loma Drive and nearby residential streets, while being careful not to block driveways or restrict access. Additional parking is available at Carpinteria State Beach, but a Day Use Pass is required. Please note that accessing the site requires crossing the railroad tracks and walking over uneven terrain.

Devereux Beach:

Meeting Place: We will have a tent and table set up on the bluffs near the parking area, so it should not be difficult to find us.

Devereux Creek:

Haskell’s Beach:

Special Directions/Address: 8301 Hollister Ave., Goleta. Enter the road off Hollister Avenue that has a sign for Bacara and follow it for over half a mile. There will be a parking lot on your left marked by signs that say “Beach Access.”

Isla Vista Streets:

Meeting Place: Isla Vista Recreation and Parks District Main Office, Isla Vista, CA 93117

Meeting Place: Our station will be in front of the Isla Vista Community Center. The Community Center’s address is 976 Embarcadero del Mar, Goleta.

Parking: Parking in Isla Vista can be hard to find during the University school year. If you are a resident in Isla Vista, the station’s distance will be near enough so that it is bike or walking accessible. If you are volunteering from outside of Isla Vista, there may be spaces available in the adjacent Community Center parking lot, but parking traffic varies on the day!

Lake Los Carneros Nature Reserve:

Meeting Place: Meet at the grassy area next to Stow House.

Phelps Creek & North Campus Open Space:

Meeting Place: From Storke Rd and Phelps Rd: follow Phelps Rd west until you cross Phelps Creek. Park along the south side of the road on the wood chips. Follow the trail south along the west side of the creek until you hit the bridge, which connects to Marymount Road, where you’ll find Site Captains.

Gaviota Coast Cleanup Sites

El Capitan State Beach:

Meeting Place: Once in the parking lot, follow the footpath to the south (to your left when facing the ocean). Setup will be at the picnic table along the path.

Organization: Parasols in Paradise 

Parking: State beach day-use parking lot; free parking with a parking pass. Get your parking pass from the parking attendant (not from the Site Captain). Let the parking attendant know you are a CCD volunteer so you can park there for free from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. (Vehicle entry is generally $10.)

Accessibility: Bathrooms and drinking water are available on site. Stairs or other difficult terrain required to access the site. Accessible parking spots.

Refugio State Beach:

Meeting Place: 10 Refugio Rd. Exit Refugio State Beach, turn left, and go under the bridge to the ranger kiosk. Tell them you are there for the Coastal Cleanup.

Parking: State beach day-use parking lot; free parking with parking pass. Get your parking pass from the parking attendant (not from the Site Captain). Let the parking attendant know you are a CCD volunteer to be able to park there for free from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Accessibility: Bathrooms and drinking water are available on site. Accessible parking spots. The beach can sometimes be mildly difficult to access. The beach isn’t necessarily wheelchair accessible. 

Channel Islands Cleanup Site

Santa Cruz Island:

Meeting Place: This is a private cleanup that is not open to the public.

Site Captain: Emma Beaver

Special Directions: Not open to the public.

Accessibility: Boat access only.

Santa Ynez Cleanup Site:

Santa Ynez River:

Meeting Place: The bridge on Alisal Road in Solvang. This is the known park-and-walk spot for locals in the valley, and should be very familiar to mid-county folks!

Organization: California Nature Art Museum

Parking: Volunteers should park at the cross streets of Fjord Drive and Glen Way. Please walk the very short distance to the bridge, where you can carefully step down to the edge of the riverbed.
