A BIG Thank You
Lorrie Thomas Ross believes in giving back to the community. Since 2007, she has donated 1% of her company’s gross annual sales to environmental non-profits. “I remember when I first saw Art From Scrap/Explore Ecology listed on 1% For The Planet’s website.” Thomas Ross says. “After years of giving to organizations outside of Santa Barbara, my team and I wanted to donate locally. Supporting an organization as dedicated to education as we are, who is also in Santa Barbara was the perfect fit!”
Thomas Ross and Web Marketing Therapy, Inc. (WMT) contacted Explore Ecology at a crucial moment. Explore Ecology’s Executive Director Cay Sanchez explains, “We were in the very beginning stage of our name change from Art From Scrap to Explore Ecology. When we received Lorrie’s call it was perfect timing. Not only did Lorrie generously donate $5,000 to our environmental education program, she also offered to assist us in our re-branding process. That’s how WMT became our Marketing Support Team and so far has donated over 227 hours of marketing genius.”
WMT’s team has provided Explore Ecology with a new website and web development, a blog, design of promotional materials, staff training, strategy and PR for the annual One Night Stand fundraiser. WMT also created new social media pages on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter for Explore Ecology.
Thomas Ross says, “We like to make a difference and believe tremendously in what Explore Ecology is doing. It’s something that our whole staff has been supportive on.”

Stephanie began her journey as an educator over twenty years ago working as a preschool teacher in Washington state for a cooperative preschool program affiliated with Whatcom Community College. She loved observing the wonder and curiosity of the children and bringing them out into nature to explore the natural world. She continued her love for learning and got her teaching license and then her Montessori certification and worked as an elementary teacher in Tribal, Public, and Montessori schools. She collaborated to create a school garden and her students loved it so much that it became a special place where they could garden, read, explore, play, and it provided a safe sanctuary for students to calm down and reset when they were having difficult moments.

Morgan’s mermaid soul is always seeking adventure—swimming a relay across the Santa Barbara Channel and taking the first photo of a newborn orca off Anacapa Island being standout experiences close to home.
