7 Easy Ways to Celebrate Earth Day Every Day
At Explore Ecology we like to empower and educate our community about how their everyday choices impact the environment. Join us in celebrating Earth Day this year by making simple changes in your lifestyle, changes that will make the world a better place for all.
1.) Save natural resources by choosing to use durable items like cloth shopping bags and metal or glass water bottles.
2.) Compost your food scraps instead of sending them to the landfill.
3.) Protect your watershed by avoiding the use of toxic herbicides, pesticides and chemical fertilizers on your lawn or garden.
4.) Don’t be average! Most Americans create about 7 pounds of trash daily. Reduce the amount of trash that you buy. (Don’t purchase over packaged and non-durable items.)
5.) Join one of our Beach Clean Ups at Arroyo Burro Beach on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Keeping trash, especially plastic, off our beaches is a crucial step in creating and preserving ocean health and it feels great!
6.) Stop by the Watershed Resource Center on Wednesday May 15th, between 5:00-7:00pm for the Flows To The Ocean Family Night. Celebrate with students, grades 4th-6th, as they present their Replace The Waste projects that offer solutions to the marine debris problem plaguing our oceans.
7.) Go outside. Enjoy Nature. If you suffer from nature deficit disorder spend at least 15 minutes outside everyday and see what a difference it makes.
